Movement
is how I conduct somatic experiments towards developmental leaps
1995-ongoing
Until I was 29 I always said “I don’t have a body.” And, now I do. So much.
I began studying somatics in 2015. These are some stills, a research log, and some drawings from the ongoing process.
Berlin
In 2018 I spent 4 months in Berlin conducting self guided research on creative healing practices invented by artists. I chose Berlin because they have good healthcare and many artists, making it a place where artists try new forms of healing. It is a hub of somatics, Queer tango, and shibari/BDSM, which are three increasingly credited avenues for polyvagal rerthythming of nervous systems and relational renegotiation of attachment patterns through movement. Here’s what I tapped:
Somatische Akademie Berlin - Katja Münker Performing Sensing / Sensing Performing 2017, 2018
QueerTango Festival - Adriana Pegorer and Olaya Aramo, contactango 2017, 1018
Shibari + BDSM Can Change the World - Kristina Marlen
Artists Without a Cause & White Guilt Clean Up - Diana Arce
LAVA Queer Jiu Jitsu - Eroca Nichols
Sitting on a Man’s Head - Okwui Okpokwasili & Peter Born
Psychic Visualization Prescriptions - Sabine Langendorf & husband
Accessibility - Romily Alice Walden and Alison Kopit
Why Care? - ICI Berlin, Feminist Healthcare Research Group, and COVEN Berlin with Taraneh Fazeli
